Our firm represented Hilton Worldwide Manage Limited in proceedings to enforce foreign financial arbitration awards totaling approximately 100,000,000 NIS, issued by the ICC International Arbitration Court in London against the French businessman Michel Ohayon, in connection with agreements related to the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Jerusalem. At the end of the process, during which we filed, among other things, a request for liens equal to the arbitration award (which was granted), the court issued a landmark, reasoned judgment, granting the enforcement request and awarding hundreds of thousands of NIS in costs. In the judgment, the court also denied the respondent’s motion to dismiss the application and accepted our request to strike the statement of defense, third-party notice, and counterclaim filed by the respondent, determining that such filings are not permissible in an enforcement proceeding.
