Our firm represented Hapoel Tel Aviv Football Club in 9 appeals against FIFA disciplinary decisions that imposed sanctions against the current legal entity that operates and manages the club, meant to force the current ownership to defray debts to foreign players and clubs amounting to approximately 18 million NIS. These debts were created by the previous legal entity that held the club’s managing rights and went into bankruptcy proceedings in 2017. The complex proceedings have been ongoing for more than 5 years, and for the last two and a half years before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). In the CAS Award recently given, all 9 appeals were accepted and upheld. The CAS decided to annul FIFA’s decisions and remove all sanctions imposed against the club for non-payment of debts to foreign creditors.
Hapoel Tel Aviv Football Club was represented by Partner Joseph Gayer and Senior Associate Omri Applebaum.
